"Books are the legacies that a great genius leaves to mankind, which are delivered down from generation to generation as presents to the posterity of those who are yet unborn." -Joseph Addison

I absolutely love to read - always have. Throughout my life, you could always find me with a nose in some sort of book. If I can impart anything to my son, it will be my love of reading. There are some books that I just have to pick up in the book store and just hold them because they meant that much to me. Yeah, I know, I'm sort of a dork.

Linda's Top Five Authors:
Douglas Adams
I'm not one to get into the whole celebrity thing anymore. I just don't care what happens in the personal lives of celebrities, I'm a little too busy with my own life to worry about such things. That said, I cried like a little girl when I heard Douglas Adams died. He's my favorite author and always brought a smile to my face with his wit and harsh critisms of society. If you haven't read anything by Adams, you should. He was the master.
John Irving
I want to go on the record by saying that I don't love everything Irving has written. The novels of his that I do love, I love profoundly. When Irving is "on", he is ON. He makes you think not only about the story, but about the world as a whole. "Widow for a Year" and "A Prayer for Owen Meanie" are two of the best novels ever.
Dave Barry
Admittedly, I am if-y on Dave Barry's full length obsevervational books. I loved "Big Trouble" though, and his columns absolutely rock. WIthout a doubt, one of the best humorists of our time.
David Sedaris
Sedaris is another humor writer who tells this amazing stories that are laugh-out-loud funny. Laugh-out-loud funny is hard to achieve in a book, let me tell you.
Michael Chabon
I really loved both "The Wonder Boys" and, in particular, " Kavalier and Clay". So, I'm putting Chabon on my list.
